Mrs. Allen started her professional career as a licensed practical nurse in pediatrics, and she has always had a passion for teaching children new things whether it be about health, nutrition, or how to be more independent. She feels her years as a nurse actually helped prepare her for a career in education. After she made the decision to move into the classroom, she started as a paraprofessional in special education. She fell in love her first year as a paraprofessional and wanted to expand her skills and to have a classroom of her own. She already had a LPN license and an associate’s degree in Health. She went on to finish her bachelor’s degree in Health Science at Trident University. Soon after, she received a master’s degree in Education with a specialization in Special Education from Walden University.

Mrs. Allen began her career in education in 2003 as a Med Tech at Matt Arthur Elementary. In 2005, she moved to Pearl Stephens Elementary to serve as a paraprofessional in the Special Education Department. She assisted three years as a teacher’s aide while she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. After receiving her degrees, she earned teaching certification in both Early Childhood and Special Education. Mrs. Allen has over a decade of experience in various areas of special education, including OI, SID/PID, MI, and MOID.

Mrs. Allen has been married for 17 years and has three children; two sons and one daughter. When Mrs. Allen is not teaching or helping out at her school, she enjoys spending time with her family.
